Our visit to Mount Noddy - RSPCA West Sussex

Between Christmas and New Year we were luck enough to be permitted to capture some images of some of a wonderful dogs currently at the RSPCA's Mount Noddy Animal Centre.

Why Mount Noddy you may ask... well, this is where got our amazing yet devilish Bea from. She was sadly returned many times to the centre for different reasons until we finally adopted her in February 2023 when she was approximately 7 months old.

She now lives happily with us here at the Equestrian Centre, hassling all the residents and generally making Elmos life a little more 'energetic' shall we say!

Anyway back to the RSPCA. I normally shoot with just natural light, especially around the horses but have wanted to try to elevate some of the images using studio style lighting (there will be another blog about the Equine images captured using lights too on the Image Equus blog). This was my first attempt at getting to grips with all the kit and backdrops etc. It was great fun!

The dogs were all amazing. Some a little shy, whilst others were a little like demolition wrecking balls! Obviously with them being rescues we had to be keenly aware of their social interaction skills and therefore how we greeted them. However, they all took it in their stride and we shot some wonderful images that we hope the centre will be able to use to grab attention on their social channels and assist in rehoming them.

Next time we will be looking to get some of the Cats centre stage too.... separately to the dogs I may add!

I was also fortunate to have Andy Hornby (Andy Hornby Photography) supporting me in the use of all the new kit. A seasoned lighting professional.

Anyway, I will be looking to do a lot more of these studio style sessions in 2024 so keep a look out for me 'pup-ping up' somewhere near you.

If you are here, I would assume that you already have a K9 companion but if you don't or are looking to add to your family please please do consider a rescue. Whether it be from Mount Noddy or another well deserving rescue charity. Even a small donation will go a long way in helping them to care for the animals they have to look after.
